Free Online Alternative Fuel Vehicle Safety Training Open for Registration
The JIBC Fire & Safety Division is pleased to announce that free, online training, FIRE-1175A Special Topics: Alternative Fuel Vehicle Training for First Responders, is available for online registration.
This training targets fire service Training Officers to provide all of the course materials and instructional aids to train your department members.
This training is licensed from the NFPA and available through support from the Office of the Fire Commissioner (OFC) for BC and the Fire Chiefs Association of BC (FCABC).
With the increase of electric and alternative fuel vehicles on the road comes new hazards that need to be understood by those who respond to emergencies involving electric and hybrid electric vehicles. The purpose of this training is to introduce this new technology to emergency responders so that they will be able to perform operations safely and effectively. The training will dispel many of the myths surrounding this technology, and shed light on the vehicle safety features that protect both occupants and responders.
The first offering of this training starts June 1, 2020. Training Officers can register online.
This training is also available free of charge to members of the first responder community in Canada through the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) online course. If your department would rather have your members take the training online through self-directed study then they can register for the free NFPA course directly.
