Resuming new course registrations for Exterior, Interior and Full Service firefighter courses
The JIBC Fire & Safety Division (FSD) is resuming new course registrations in its Exterior, Interior, and Full Service Fire Fighter Operations courses after completing a number of updates.
The course updates included:
– Updating course materials to align with the 2019 edition of the NFPA 1001 Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualification, and the latest B.C. Fire Service Minimum TrainingStandards;
– Upgrading course content to the fourth edition of the Jones & BartlettFundamentals of Fire Fighter Skillstextbook
– Streamlining the course registration form.
Due to these updates, course content may look different with necessary adjustments to course topics aligned with the latest standards and textbook.
Students who started a course from July 2020 onwards who have yet to complete their course will continue to have access. They will, however, need to receive a new textbook code, which will be provided by FSD once they are received from Jones & Bartlett.
Thank you for your patience and support as we work to continually improve our programming to meet the training needs of the fire service in B.C.
